FPT to Drive Digital Transformation for Japan's Largest Healthcare Group

On May 19, FPT and Tokushukai announced a partnership in digital transformation for the medical and healthcare sectors. The event represents a concrete step toward realizing comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Japan following the Japanese Prime Minister's recent visit to Vietnam.

Attendees included Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health; Ito Naoki, Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam; leaders of government authorities; and executives from FPT Corporation and Tokushukai Medical Group.

Under the partnership, FPT and its affiliated company will be authorized to use the Tokushukai Medical Group brand in healthcare activities in Vietnam. FPT and Tokushukai will also jointly promote the development of advanced, modern IT solutions for medical and healthcare services across hospital systems in Vietnam and Japan. Cooperation between two leading groups in healthcare and technology is expected to make valuable contributions to the medical sector, particularly amid rapid advances in artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things, and cloud computing.

At the event, representatives shared their directions and expectations for future cooperation. Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan stated that, in the current context, digital transformation in healthcare is not simply about applying technology. It is a comprehensive process of innovation spanning governance, operations, and service delivery. “I believe today's partnership will create value beyond the scope of an agreement. It brings together technology, governance, and medicine, with the ultimate goal of providing effective, comprehensive, and sustainable healthcare for the people.”

Ambassador Ito Naoki said that by leveraging each party's strengths, the two groups would strongly advance digital transformation in healthcare and deliver advanced healthcare products and services to people in Vietnam and Japan in the future.

“Vietnam has issued Politburo Resolution No. 72 on breakthrough measures to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of public health, demonstrating its strong determination to advance healthcare and population development while expanding the application of advanced technologies. This provides an important foundation and creates favorable opportunities for enterprises from both countries, including FPT and Tokushukai Medical Group, to deepen cooperation and implement digital healthcare solutions in the coming period,” Ambassador Ito Naoki affirmed.

On the occasion of the partnership, Higashiue Shinichi, Chairman of Tokushukai Medical Group, said that the group was honored to cooperate with FPT Corporation, a leading technology partner in Vietnam. “Through this partnership, we expect to create new value together by applying advanced techniques and technologies, opening up further development opportunities, and building a sustainable, mutually beneficial relationship. In particular, we hope to contribute to improving the quality of healthcare services and providing the best possible services to the people of Vietnam.”

Responding to the leaders of both countries and the Chairman of Tokushukai Medical Group, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh said that, since its establishment, FPT has aspired to develop technology for people. “We believe technology must serve human happiness, of which health is the most important foundation. We want to apply technology, especially artificial intelligence, to provide better personalized healthcare and to work with Tokushukai Medical Group toward sustainable, long-term value.”

According to FPT Vice Chairman Bui Quang Ngoc, the partnership marks FPT's authorization to use the Tokushukai Medical Group brand in Vietnam and establishes a comprehensive cooperation framework for developing and deploying information technology solutions in medicine and healthcare. By combining FPT's strengths in technology, data, and implementation experience with Tokushukai's capability to operate large-scale medical systems, the two sides believe they can develop high-value digital solutions not only for Vietnam and Japan, but also for the wider region.

Founded in 1973, Tokushukai Medical Group is Japan's largest private healthcare system. It currently operates approximately 92 hospitals and hundreds of medical facilities across Japan, providing comprehensive services ranging from medical examination and treatment to rehabilitation and nursing care. It also cooperates internationally with universities and hospitals, trains medical personnel, and has supported or transferred healthcare facilities, treatment technologies, and medical services to many countries across four continents. With its commitment to providing high-quality, accessible healthcare for everyone, Tokushukai is recognized as one of Japan's exemplary healthcare models.

Vietnam and Japan have strengthened comprehensive cooperation across many strategic fields. In addition to national security, defense, and economic cooperation, the two countries are expanding collaboration in emerging areas such as digital transformation, energy transition, green transformation, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence. Healthcare cooperation is also a highlight of bilateral relations, reflected in programs for preventive medicine, healthcare digitization, and elderly care, all aimed at building a more effective and sustainable healthcare system.
